At age 34, he underwent surgery for a lumbar disc herniation, and abandoned his career as a surgeon to open his own clinic at age 37, aiming to provide medical care incorporating both Eastern and Western medicine. Until he discovered yoga at age 55, he suffered from lower back pain, depression, atopic dermatitis, and colon polyps, but his condition improved as he began yoga and his body became more flexible. Leveraging that experience, he obtained a yoga instructor qualification and has been teaching yoga to people of all ages with great success.
