Abstract

The increasingly popular and ever-expanding world of bizarre plants. A special edition focused on raising and cultivating the popular platycerium, agave, and pachypus.

Bizarre Plants are not a classification of plants, but a common name for plants with peculiar shapes and unique evolutionary paths. Included are well known representatives of the caudex, pachypodium, and tuberous root shrubs, from agave to platycerium, a collector’s edition featuring information on 155 summer varieties. Particular attention is paid to rooting the Operculicarya pachypus, a well-known challenge for beginners. Under the direction of three specialists and following hydroponic methodologies, we opened experiments in March of 2019 and are testing theories for the best rooting methodologies.
